The popularity of online learning is increasing at a very fast pace. There are millions of students in the United States that are currently studying online and overseas students are joining in on this trend. If your schedule permits you to attend campus sessions once in a while then hybrid would be suitable. Universities like NYU operate under synchronous which means students and teachers participate at the same time in a virtual classroom or chat session via the web. Because of the distractions online classes require more discipline, you must be able to concentrate under pressure. Another reason online an education takes discipline and maturity is that unlike a normal campus the teacher is not directly in front of you and visible. An individual who has the time to attend a virtual session but cannot commute to a college campus would find this a great option. For an individual seeking a degree for a promotion or similar benefit, this type of environment is not necessary.

How to Succeed in Graduate School: A Guide for Students and Advisors-2 4 Becoming Part of the Research Community One of the most important things a graduate student should do is to become established as part of the research community. Your advisor can help with this process by funding confer- ence travel, encouraging you to publish research results early, collaborating on joint publications, introducing you to col- leagues, and promoting your work. In turn, you can make yourself more visible by participat- ing in conferences and workshops, publishing papers on your 7 work, and meeting and maintaining contact with colleagues.

By Rahel Gebreyes Harvard University officially instituted a ban on sexual relationships between professors and undergraduate students this week. Department of Education for Title IX violations. Harvard professor Alison Johnson, who led the panel that wrote the updated policy, explained that the ban is a formalization of an existing culture, which frowns upon student-professor relationships.

Still, having that culture codified is crucial, she told HuffPost Live on Thursday.

I have been looking for places to post my experience with University of Phoenix and have finally found this site. I know that there are many people out there that are like me and want an education to make their lives better in some way, shape, or form. But this school is not the place for that. Allow me to explain: When I first came across University of Phoenix, I was trying to transfer from another school called Penn Foster which is just as bad as Phoenix, but that’s a whole other can of worms that we’re going to leave alone.

I had looked through the options that I had available to find a school that would allow me to do what I really wanted to do, which was Web Design. My first interactions with Phoenix was very good. My AC was very nice and I got along well with her. However, since I was only 21 at the time and had no job, I had to file as a dependent seeing as I was also living with my parents.

Recent trends:

My blog on February 4 dealt with politically correct speech on college campuses. Today’s blog looks at Harvard University’s recently announced ban on sexual relationships between professors and undergraduates. On February 11, I will look at civility on campus. Today’s blog is done in a tongue-and-cheek way built on a cynical belief about Harvard’s new policy.

The University announced last week that it will ban such sexual relationships but the ban does not seem to include graduate students in Master’s and Ph. This makes no sense because professors are more likely to be sexually attracted to older, more mature students.

 · MIT also sought to limit these relationships between graduate students and professors and barred student teaching assistants from dating other students they may have authority ://

This Stock Character is a brilliant scientist, but, uh, very flighty, often forgetting things like the date, people’s names , meetings, eating , people’s names , etc. His mind tends to run a mile a minute, he can often struggle to hold a normal conversation, and it’s typical for him to become so engrossed in his work that he loses track of just about everything else.

Good thing he and it’s very often a he is good at what he does and often has perfect memory for scientific details or mathematical values. With a little prodding from the heroes to focus on the matter at hand, he rarely fails to create the tools necessary to save the day. Some colleges are cracking down on student-teacher romances

In the spring, Stanford University toughened its policy to require professors to give up “any supervisory or evaluative function” over their campus romantic partners and to report such relationships to their department chairs or deans. Ohio Wesleyan University barred faculty from romances with students they supervise, advise or evaluate. Sexual relations between faculty members and students–a long-standing feature of campus life–increasingly are being legislated out of academia.

But for every school that has imposed a ban, there are many more that still have vague or loophole-riddled policies–or no explicit restrictions–on consensual relationships between faculty and students. The question of how strict such policies should be has been highlighted in the last two weeks by the resignation of the dean of the University of California-Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law.

John Dwyer resigned as dean just before Thanksgiving and as a member of the law school faculty after the university opened an investigation into a sexual encounter he had two years ago with a female law student.

Such is the case here, and thus I somewhat question the motives of the author of the post, Kelly Anders. Asking the question creates the illusion that there is a real controversy. I addressed this question a long time ago, in an early post here barely seen at the time but among the most frequently visited since. Dating a student is a professional breach of trust, and one that adversely effects the integrity of the entire educational institution…. A teacher always has superior power over any student by virtue of his or her position of authority, and it is an abuse of that power to use it to entice students into dates or bed… [It] is naive to ignore the extended conflicts such relationships create.

Will the professor consciously or subconsciously be easier on the friends of his student lover if they are in his class? The fact that the question can be asked shows that the situation should not occur where it can be asked. Students, all students, must be off-limits as romantic partners for professors and administrators in universities, regardless of what rules are in place.

Professors who date students risk their jobs because a student body is not their sexual smorgasbord, and it is a breach of trust and duty to treat it like one. Nor is anything I wrote then revolutionary or new. These are the realities of authority, professionalism, leadership and power.

When will I get my financial aid refund?
